Providence University (PU; Chinese: 靜宜大學) was founded in 1921. This is a school with a long history in Taichung, Taiwan.

Providence University, English name is Providence University, Chinese name is 靜宜大學, abbreviated as PU. This is one of the famous universities in Taichung and is known as a dynamic university, with many joint programs, and attracting hundreds of international students to study abroad.

2. History of establishment:

Jingyi University is a Catholic university located in Taichung City (the 3rd largest city in Taiwan after New Taipei and Kaohsiung), with nearly 12,000 students studying. Founded in 1921, the first president of the school was Professor Ho Ying-An.
In 1963, it was re-established and renamed “Women’s College of Arts and Sciences” with four departments: Chinese Literature, Western Languages ​​and Literature, Business, and Mathematics. In 1993, the university broke away from its tradition and began enrolling men. “Providence College for Women” was renamed “Taiwan Jingyi University“. Since then, the number of male students has increased rapidly. The school is one of the member schools of the U12 Association and is one of two Taiwanese universities participating in the ISEP (international student exchange program) network.
