What is the 1+ 4 system?
Studying in Taiwan the 1+4 program is organized by the Taiwanese government. Instead of having to study the language in Vietnam to reach the required level, the 1+4 program will help you study in Taiwan immediately. Specifically, when you go to Taiwan, you will study five years of Chinese and four years of university. The value you get is still the same as studying in the regular program. Your university studies can be shortened to 1+3 years, or 1+3.5 years if you complete all the credits in your program. After 1 year of studying the language, you must submit a TOCFL A2 certificate, or in other words, you are owed a certificate for 1 year. After 1 year of studying the language, if you do not have a TOCFL A2, you will have to return home.
Conditions for studying in the 1+4 program
- High school graduate or above, aged 18 to under 22
- Average GPA from 6.0
- Good health, no infectious diseases, no violations of the law

- The foreign language proficiency required is better when studying under the work-study program, because you will study your major from the first year
- Interview for a visa at the Taipei office
- From the second year, the school will apply for a job for you, but you are not required to do this job like the work-study program. Therefore, you can freely do the job you like and work freely outside according to the regulations for international students of 20 hours/week.
Advantages of the international specialized system
- Easy entry requirements
- You just need to make sure you study enough credits to graduate, are given the opportunity to work full-time to cover tuition and living expenses, and after graduating, you will still be awarded a regular university degree
- You are free to do the job you like, not required to work as recommended by the school
Disadvantages of the international specialized system
- Interview at the Radio Office The North is quite strict like the self-funded university study abroad system, so the Chinese proficiency level must be met as required.
- Not as popular as the work-study system, there are not many options for international students
What is the self-funded system?
This is a study abroad system suitable for those who have returned from Taiwan, or are older than 24 years old, or simply want to study abroad in a comfortable, free way, or simply want to shorten their study abroad time because they already have a university degree in Vietnam…
Conditions for self-funded study abroad
- Male and female, aged 18 to 32
- High school graduate or higher

Advantages of self-funded programs
- Freely choose majors, part-time jobs, professions, and study abroad areas in Taiwan
- Accept people who have returned from working in Taiwan, depending on some schools
- Accept people aged 25 to 32 age
Disadvantages of self-funded system
- Self-funded scholarships are harder to get and are less common, the discount is not much.
- Tuition fees are higher than those of other study abroad programs because you have to pay your own tuition, so the cost of studying abroad is also higher
- The visa interview at the Taipei Office is quite strict, so you need to prepare carefully before the interview.
