I. Introduction to Tamkang University:
TKU was founded in 1950. It was originally called Tamkang English College. The founders of TKU were Mr. Chang Ching-Sheng and his son, Dr. Clement C. P. Chang.
TKU was a private college until 1980 when it officially became Tamkang University. To date, the school has four campuses: Tamsui Campus, Taipei Campus, Lanyang Campus, and Cyber Campus. The University comprises eight faculties, with a total of approximately 24,000 students and 2,000 faculty and staff.
For over 60 years since its establishment, Tam Kang University has focused on academic research, teaching and learning with a spirit of innovation. It is the first university in Taiwan to adopt Total Quality Management (TQM), which was introduced in 1992.

II. Outstanding achievements
TamKang University won the award for the most favorite private university of enterprises along with the National Quality Award. And the international safe school certificate.
In addition, the school has achieved many outstanding achievements such as:
- In 2006, the Dam Giang Quality Award was initiated to recognize outstanding departments that are committed to TQM.
- The prestigious National Quality Award in 2009.
- The first university in Taiwan to allow students to evaluate teachers’ performance.
- The first university in Taiwan to launch a year-long study abroad program for children (JYA).
- The first university in Taiwan to allow students to register and choose courses via phone or internet.
- The first university in Taiwan to invent software and hardware for visually impaired students. Allow them to use the Internet and other modern technologies.
- The first university in Taiwan to offer compulsory extracurricular courses
